Can I get free loft insulation?

Possibly, but it is not guaranteed. ECO4 runs until 31 December 2026 and may fully or partly fund loft insulation for households on qualifying benefits, or with gross income under £31,000 through a participating council. Owner-occupied homes need an EPC of D to G and privately rented homes E to G, and you may be asked to contribute. In England, the Warm Homes: Local Grant pays for eligible owner-occupiers with household income usually £36,000 or less and an EPC of D to G. The Great British Insulation Scheme closed on 31 March 2026.

Loft Insulation Grants

Loft insulation may be fully or partly funded through ECO4 until 31 December 2026, or through the Warm Homes: Local Grant in England. Insulating an empty loft to 270mm typically saves around £140 to £360 a year.
