Why Compare Solar Panel Quotes?

What Solar Can Save

The Energy Saving Trust estimates around £680 to £930 a year for a four-bedroom detached home with Smart Export Guarantee payments, or £180 to £330 without them (July 2026 prices). Your savings will depend on your roof, usage and export tariff.

Compare Like for Like

Compare prices, panel and inverter brands, warranties and expected generation side by side. Before you agree to anything, check the installer on the MCS register.

0% VAT Until March 2027

Installed solar panels and batteries currently have 0% VAT. From 1 April 2027 the rate returns to 5%. The zero rate only applies when the installer supplies and fits the equipment.

Solar Panel Quote FAQs

How long does it take to receive quotes?

It depends on how many installers cover your area and how busy they are, so we can't promise a set time or number of quotes. If you haven't heard anything, contact us using the details below.

Is it free, and do I have to accept a quote?

Sending an enquiry is free and you don't have to accept any quote. Installers set their own prices for the work, and may pay Better Home Hub a fee for introductions. Read any contract carefully before you sign.

What information do I need to provide?

The form asks which services you need, your home size and whether anyone in your household receives benefits, then your name, phone number, email, first line of your address and postcode. Installers may ask more questions or arrange a survey before giving a final price.

Do I need an MCS-certified installer?

To get Smart Export Guarantee payments, your installation must be certified through MCS or an equivalent scheme such as Flexi-Orb. We don't certify or vet installers, so check any installer on the MCS register before you agree to work.

Will installers come to my home?

Most installers will want to check your roof, electrics and shading, in person or remotely, before giving a final price. Ask whether there is any charge for a survey before you book one.

How much will solar panels cost?

The Energy Saving Trust puts a typical 4.5kWp home system at around £7,600. Government data on MCS-certified installs from April 2025 to March 2026 shows a median of £1,780 per kW for systems up to 4kW. A battery adds around £5,000 to £8,000. Typical costs, last reviewed September 2026; your quotes will depend on your roof and equipment.
