Superfoil Insulation
Thin multi-layer reflective insulation for roofs, walls and floors where there isn't room for thicker materials
What is Superfoil Insulation?
Superfoil is a brand of multifoil insulation, also called reflective foil insulation. Multifoils are thin, multi-layered products made of reflective foils separated by wadding or foam. Part of how they work is by reflecting radiant heat, so most rely on air gaps next to the foil to perform as designed.
Multifoil is mainly used where space is limited, such as loft conversions, between rafters or under floors. It is much thinner than mineral wool, so don't assume it matches a full depth of conventional insulation. Performance claims vary between products: ask for independently tested figures and a U-value calculation for your roof, wall or floor. It is often used alongside other insulation.
Key Benefits
Thin Profile
Much thinner than mineral wool rolls, useful where depth is limited
Versatile
Works in roofs, walls, floors - anywhere space is limited
Lightweight
Light and easy to handle, though fitting details still matter
Vapour Control
Some products also act as a vapour control layer, so placement matters to avoid trapping moisture
Reflects Heat
Reflective foils work best facing an air gap; follow the manufacturer's instructions
Space Saving
An option where thicker insulation won't fit, or to use alongside it

Installation Critical
Most multifoils need air gaps and sealed joints to reach their rated performance, so follow the manufacturer's instructions. Loft conversions and new rooms also need building regulations approval.
Is Superfoil Right for You?
✓ Ideal For:
- • Loft conversions with limited headroom
- • Walls being dry-lined where space is tight
- • Under suspended floors with limited joist depth
- • Outbuildings, or extensions alongside other insulation
- • Roof insulation where rafter depth is limited
⚠ Important Notes:
- • Most products need air gaps next to the foil to work as designed
- • Thinner does not mean equal performance: check the U-value
- • Performance depends heavily on correct installation
- • Often used alongside traditional insulation for best results
